Zendo care
Setting up the room and putting it back again is its own quiet practice. Here is what a Sunday morning needs, start to finish, so anyone can pick it up.
All items should be in the storage room. The uniform black zabutons and zafus belong to Greenville Zen. The rest belong to CSP, who kindly permit us to use them.
Follow CSP's instructions for entering and closing the space, including arming and disarming the alarm. The closing instructions are in the kitchen.
-
The foyer
Set up the foyer and table with the instructions and the waivers, so newcomers have everything they need as they arrive.
-
The altar
Put some water and a few flowers in the vase for the altar. The Buddha and the flowers go on the tray, and the tray goes in a nice place in the zendo. No incense or candles are permitted.
-
Cushions and chairs
Set up the cushions, moving the tables to the side of the room. Also put out several folding chairs so they can be used if needed. If you see that we have many participants, be sure to put out enough folding chairs for people who may want to move from their zafu to a chair if they get uncomfortable.
-
The bells
The doan can organize themselves with the bells and the doan instructions. Doan instructions

After sitting
Return the cushions, altar, instructions, and everything else to the storage room. Return the furniture to its original places and tidy up. The closing instructions for CSP are on the wall in the kitchen.
